Chapter 8
Cruelty in My Own Backyard

When I entered their world, I felt like an outsider looking in – a stranger in my skin, a foreign entity in a sea of familiar faces. The subtle glances, the whispered remarks, and the pointed questions about your origins serve as constant reminders of your otherness, of my status as an outsider in a world that refuses to accept me. In the classroom, I endure the taunts and jeers of my classmates, seeing my adoption as a weakness to be exploited, a vulnerability to be targeted. In the workplace, I face discrimination and prejudice from colleagues and superiors who view my adoption as a mark of inferiority, a stain on my character that taints every aspect of my professional identity.

Act # 5
Inmates Playing the Victim Card
By now, you might have done all they asked, or you are starting to feel something in your gut telling you to STOP what you’re doing for a stranger or even someone you have known for years, so you begin to pull back. On the next phone call, you may encounter these types of behavior from the inmate.
Inmates often portray themselves as innocent victims of circumstance, emphasizing the hardships they face in prison. They may downplay their own wrongdoing and shift focus onto the challenges they endure, such as harsh living conditions or unjust treatment by prison staff.

Act # 5
Lost of Time

When a male inmate is released from prison and confronts issues of feeling lost in time, it can significantly impact his relationships, leading to patterns that contribute to discord and emotional strain. After spending a significant amount of time in a structured prison environment, the male inmate may struggle to adapt to the freedom and flexibility of civilian life. He may feel overwhelmed by the choices and responsibilities that come with everyday life, leading to indecision, procrastination, or a sense of aimlessness.
